Full Capacity Living…

Hi friends,
We talk a lot about what we put into our bodies — food, supplements, hydration, sleep — but there’s another daily exposure that often gets overlooked:
What touches your skin.
Your skin is not a barrier; it’s an active, intelligent organ. What we wear sits against it for hours at a time, day after day. Fabrics matter more than most of us realize.
Many conventional clothing materials are made from synthetic fibers like polyester, nylon, and acrylic — essentially forms of plastic. These fabrics are often treated with chemical finishes, dyes, and processing agents that can irritate the skin, disrupt temperature regulation, and contribute to low-grade inflammation, especially for sensitive nervous systems and hormone-aware bodies.
Natural fibers — especially high-quality, organic cotton — tend to be:
- More breathable and temperature-regulating
- Gentler on sensitive skin
- Less likely to trap heat, moisture, or odors
- Free from many of the chemical residues used in conventional textile production
For people already working on hormone balance, nervous system regulation, or reducing overall toxic load, this can be a subtle but meaningful shift. Think of it as reducing background noise in the body — one less thing for your system to manage.
Organic cotton, in particular, is grown without synthetic pesticides or herbicides, which means fewer residues against your skin and fewer chemicals entering the body through daily contact. Over time, these small exposures add up — and removing them can support clearer skin, calmer immune responses, and overall comfort in your own body.
There’s also a quieter benefit: when clothing is made with care — for the land, the farmers, and the people producing it — it tends to last longer, feel better, and invite a more intentional relationship with what we wear. Fewer pieces, better quality, chosen thoughtfully.
This isn’t about perfection or throwing out your closet. It’s about awareness. Maybe it starts with pajamas, underwear, a favorite tee, or sheets — the things touching your skin the longest.
Here are a few of the companies I wear and love. These are brands that are affordable and last a long time.
https://wearpact.com/women/apparel – my favorite undies!
https://www.quince.com/ – if you have never shopped Quince you are in for a treat..search organic cotton as not all of their options are organic cotton but they have a great selection.
https://matethelabel.com/ – sustainable and stylish at the same time without the Goop price tag (who’s buying those $400 t-shirts anyway??)
Health isn’t only built in big, dramatic changes. It’s shaped by the everyday choices that support the body doing what it already knows how to do: regulate, adapt, and restore.
Until then, notice what you’re wrapped in today. Share if you have a favorite sustainable and clean clothing company you love!
Warmly,
Karen
